Sales Letters
Powerful sales letters are still one of the most effective forms of marketing. But there are some rules you need to follow to make your letter work.
1. Always have an attention grabbing headline. There are several types of headline you can use. Here are a couple of examples.
A question:
“Fed up with spending money on marketing that doesn’t work?”
A command:
“Don’t spend any more money on your marketing until you have read this website”
2. Use a salutation at the beginning and always sign off with a signature and warm goodbye.
3. Make sure your copy is legible. Write in short concise sentences of no more than 10 words long. Paragraphs should be three to four sentences long. List the benefits of your procudt as bullet points and use plenty of sub headings and bold.
4. Reiterate the main benefits of your product clearly and sell the benefits of responding to your offer now e.g. free information, a free report, a free consultation or a discount.
5. Make the call to action clear and put it in early so that readers are already aware of what to do whilst they are reading the rest of your information.
6. Always use a ps. Here you can restate the main benefits again and sometimes readers will read the ps before they read the letter.!

And remember, remember you are talking to a human being - who has feelings, needs,
hopes and fears. Do not write to them as if they are another cog in the wheel of industry
– appeal to them as human beings. |
