Advertising
Advertising expenditure can be a bottomless pit if you don’t carry it out with your eyes open. Here are some worthwhile tips that could save you money.
1. Always test your advertising. The reason for placing an ad is to get a response - so set up a system and measure the amount of calls you get in response to your ad. Record the response and calculate how many of those calls resulted in a sale. You can then work out how much sales revenue was generated by that ad and whether it was profitable.
2. Never advertise somewhere just because the competition is.
3. Never buy advertising space on the left hand page of a brochure or magazine – even if others are. It is known by all good advertising agencies that the eye is drawn to the right hand page and an advert here will be twice as effective.
4. Once again the headline is all important – it must be attention grabbing. The purpose of the headline is to get people to read your advert. Use “How tos”, Commands and Questions. For example, “How to get thin thighs in 30 days”
5. Create an interest in your product by explaining the benefits. You need to form a strong desire in the reader to want to find out more so think about them and what they will want to know. What are their needs, desires, fears and hopes? Give as much information as you can. They want there questions answered – they want to know WHY they should call.
6. They then of course need to know HOW to find out more. So you need to put in your phone number or web address.
7. Good design helps but only if it compliments the headline and is attention grabbing.
